Let’s start now on a twelve-step path that will lead out of the bondage of eating disorders and into the freedom that comes from a closer relationship with God. In the Life Recovery Workbook for Eating Disorders, discover real-life stories of fellow travelers, great questions for individual or group discussion, and a Bible-centered approach to freedom. Twelve beautiful blessings await after our hard work on the journey of recovery from eating disorders. Step 1: Open our hearts to God’s power to free us from the grip of food addiction. “We now have this light shining in our hearts.” (2 Corinthians 4:7) Step 2: Allow God to join us in the powerful emotions behind our eating disorder. “Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke 8:48) Step 3: Rest in God’s care for every decision and eating habit. “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) Step 4: Gain a true picture of how God sees us. “At that moment their eyes were opened.” (Genesis 3:7) Step 5: Experience the healing that begins with confession. “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” (James 5:16) Step 6: Get ready for repentance from sins expressed in unhealthy eating. “You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.” (Psalm 51:17) Step 7: Allow God’s Spirit to fix our food addictions. “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Luke 18:14) Step 8: Create a list of people our eating disorders have affected. “Do to others as you would like them to do to you.” (Luke 6:31) Step 9: Restore relationships damaged by our sins (when possible) and experience a clean slate. “But then they turn from their sins and do what is just and right.” (Ezekiel 33:14) Step 10: Review daily the defects in us that hinder healthy life with God and others. “Be careful not to fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:12) Step 11: Grow closer to God through prayer and meditation. “The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” (Lamentations 3:25) Step 12: Bless others with the blessing of healing from eating disorders. “Gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.” (Galatians 6:1) STEPHEN ARTERBURN is the founder of New Life Ministries—the nation’s largest faith-based broadcast, counseling, and treatment ministry—and host of the nationally syndicated New Life Live! daily radio program. ✏Holy Bible Recovery Version Book Summary : Throughout the centuries, translations of the Bible have steadily improved. In general, each new translation inherits from previous ones and opens the way for later ones. While a new translation derives help from its predecessors, it should go further. The Recovery Version of the New Testament, following the precedent set by the major authoritative English versions and taking these versions as reference, not only incorporates lessons learned from an examination of others’ practices but also attempts to avoid biases and inaccurate judgments. This version, frequently guided by other versions, attempts to provide the best utterance for the revelation in the divine Word, that it may be expressed in the English language with the greatest accuracy. Translating the Bible depends not only on an adequate comprehension of the original language but also on a proper understanding of the divine revelation in the holy Word. Throughout the centuries the understanding of the divine revelation possessed by the saints has always been based upon the light they received, and this understanding has progressed steadily. The consummation of this understanding forms the basis of this translation and its footnotes. Hence, this translation and the accompanying footnotes could be called the “crystallization” of the understanding of the divine revelation which the saints everywhere have attained to in the past two thousand years. It is our hope that the Recovery Version will carry on the heritage that it has received and will pave the way for future generations. As with any New Testament translation, the determination of the original Greek text, based upon the available manuscripts, forms the basis for the text of the Recovery Version of the New Testament. The Recovery Version follows, for the most part, the Nestle-Aland Greek text as found in Novum Testamentum Graece (26th edition). However, in determining the original form of any verse, the translators of the Recovery Version gave careful consideration to the larger context of chapter and book and to similar portions of the New Testament. The most recently discovered manuscripts or the manuscripts of oldest date are not necessarily the most accurate or reliable; hence, the determination of the text for this version was based largely upon the principle stated above. Departures from the Nestle-Aland text are sometimes indicated in the footnotes. Italicized words in the verses indicate supplied words, not found in the Greek text. Quotation marks are used to indicate close quotation from the Old Testament. The Recovery Version embodies extensive research into the meaning of the original text and attempts to express this meaning with English that is to the point, easy to understand, and readable. In those places where it is difficult to express the exact meaning of the original Greek, explanatory footnotes have been supplied. The subject provided at the beginning of each book and the outline of each book take the historical facts as their base and express the spiritual meaning in each book. The footnotes stress the revelation of the truth, the spiritual light, and the supply of life more than history, geography, and persons. The cross-references lead not only to other verses with the same expressions and facts but also to other matters related to the spiritual revelation in the divine Word.

✏Breaking Away From Trauma To Healing Book Summary : Every one of us has a story to tell. In that respect, my story is not much different from anyone else’s story. Since the beginning of human life, drawn from Genesis in The Life Recovery Bible, even Adam and Eve had their own story. In many ways, our stories align with their story in that all earthy human beings experience birth, a path to walk in life, and eventually physical death. On that path, some choose and others don’t, to search for true meaning in life. Life holds personal experiences for everyone, and the path in which each of us follows is constantly evolving. The Bible says, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32, NIV). My journey has led me to seek that path of Truth, which to me is in living a life in Christ Jesus.

✏Milestones Book Summary : MILESTONES - THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF OUR LIVES They make us who we are and who we become.... A Milestone is a great achievement in life that cannot be forgotten. One way that will be accomplished is by saying goodbye to the past and hello to the future. No one ever successfully drives forward looking in the rear view mirror. This in itself is a major accomplishment: Letting go of what is behind of the old life and pressing forward and walking into what lies ahead in Christ Jesus. Some typical examples of milestones are when one learns how to drive, graduates from school, leaves home for the first time, marriage, a first child, a first job, getting saved, and for some it could even mean the first day sober! There are three components that make up Milestones: the spoken Word of God, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and substituting thinking - changing the way we think. This workbook will not just help you to take the right steps towards lasting recovery from addictions, but it will create crucial landmarks in your life's journey. So that you will become full of God's faith and power to venture on into your destiny! Milestones can be used for individual or group growth. Some may just want to work it alone as a personal reflection tool to solidify their faith. But most will benefit from working it together in a support setting where the Milestones can be discussed in depth. People who are in codependent relationships will benefit from Milestones, too. This book also, contains information how to set up a faith-based recovery program. So if you have been searching for a Faith-Based, Spirit Empowered program that emphasizes the Rhema Word of God, then look no further! Milestones is here.

AA and other 12-Step Fellowships: How to get involved in a mutual-support group and what it can do for you. Relapse Prevention: The Recovery Zone ReCheck, a simple new technique to anticipate and avoid relapses. Rebuilding Your Life: How to handle relationships, socializing, work, education, and finances. Physical and Mental Health: Tips for getting healthy; how to handle common ailments. Pain Control: How to deal with pain in recovery; how to avoid a relapse if you need pain control for surgery or emergency care. Family and Friends: How you can help a loved one with addiction, and how you can help yourself. Raising Substance-Free Kids: How to “addiction-proof” your child. The Epidemic of Prescription Drugs: Now a bigger problem than illegal drugs. Dr. Al J. Mooney has been helping alcoholics and addicts get their lives back for more than thirty years, using both his professional and personal experiences at his family’s treatment center, Willingway, and most recently through his work as medical director for The Healing Place of Wake County (NC), a homeless shelter. The Recovery Book will help millions gain control of their mind, their body, their life, and their happiness. www.TheRecoveryBook.com

✏Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction Book Summary : “Mark has eloquently unraveled the mystery behind addictive behavior: when our relationships are not alive and growing, the temptation for various kinds of addictions is unleashed..”—Dr. Gary Smalley With today’s rampant availability of Internet pornography, sexual addiction has become a national epidemic that affects up to 10 percent of Christians. As devastating as any drug habit, it brings heartbreak and despair to those it entangles. But there is help for men and women caught in sexual addiction’s downward spiral. This book offers a path that leads beyond compulsive thoughts and behaviors to healing and transformation. Sensitive to the shame of sexual addiction without minimizing its sinfulness, Dr. Mark Laaser traces the roots of the problem, discusses its patterns and impact, and maps out a biblical approach to self-control and sexual integrity. Previously titled Faithful and True, this revision includes an all-new section that deals with sexual addiction in the church. Other important changes reflect cultural trends, incorporate current research, and place a greater emphasis on spiritual growth.
